Anticipation's Rhyme

Anticipation's Rhyme

A Poem by Frieda P

Anticipation, locked away in my heart
when love grew old and dreary
where once upon a time shone vivid light
Your face still haunts my memories
   haltingly beautiful eyes that captivated
windows to your soul, now darkened with time
Yet, I can't help but think of you & reminisce
when pensive rain hits my window pane
the sad sounds reminds me of an old rhythm
when our poetry still rhymed ~

We danced in well versed enraptured ecstasy
and there was no such thing as time

The personification of rain was well used to further the sadness and allow for greater impact of those final and very touching thoughts. "our poetry" only a great writer could impart such an all encompassing way to describe a relationship. Well done Frieda, short and sweet.

Thank you MOON, glad you enjoyed it...
Such a wonderful poem. So much longing and nostalgia in only a few simple and sweet verses. The whole poem has a very melancholic feeling. I also love the use of a different color and formatting, it gives it a unique touch. Very lovely piece of work, Frieda.

Memorable memories seemingly etched into glass. Beautifully written Frieda. Delicate and crystal. Finely spun and silken.

Such a lovely review, thanks so much Ken.
i have different memories that come from this...although it is seemingly about someone who has been lost...i feel a time lost...in youth, in Vermont...when days were long with anticipation, life moved more slowly and every day was a vibrant run through beautiful landscapes...

now those memories still haunt, in a good way...but they seem so distant now at times...as if..well, did they ever really exist at all?

Love your interpretation jacob, glad it brought back some happy memories...yep they did exist.
I must say, this is one of your best, Frieda!

You have etched the stolen moments of time, regrets, and yearning. The vision of heartbreak has come to life, and you are the gifted artist to sketch the beauty of that pain...

Eloquent write!~xoxo~

no such thing as time....no time to corral your life in corners,no lines of age to rope you down,Just a banjo ,thumb an claw hammer ,plunking notes to punctuate pebbles punching holes in Pollies pond.God I love her.
