Anticipation's Rhyme

Anticipation's Rhyme

A Poem by Frieda P

Anticipation, locked away in my heart
when love grew old and dreary
where once upon a time shone vivid light
Your face still haunts my memories
   haltingly beautiful eyes that captivated
windows to your soul, now darkened with time
Yet, I can't help but think of you & reminisce
when pensive rain hits my window pane
the sad sounds reminds me of an old rhythm
when our poetry still rhymed ~

We danced in well versed enraptured ecstasy
and there was no such thing as time

The personification of rain was well used to further the sadness and allow for greater impact of those final and very touching thoughts. "our poetry" only a great writer could impart such an all encompassing way to describe a relationship. Well done Frieda, short and sweet.

This is one painful melancholy of nostalgia. So well expressed with excellent support provided by the photo! Nice one!

Thanks so much Shivam, glad you enjoyed it!
I don't know why but rain has that nostalgic effect on me. I could definitely relate on these lines:

"Yet, I can't help but think of you & reminisce
when pensive rain hits my window pane
the sad sounds reminds me of an old rhythm
when our poetry still rhymed"

ahh, beautiful lines..

I guess that's why rain was created, thanks gabrielle. :-)
"There was no such thing as time"...what a feeling of love and affection. To feel that all time ceases when you are with the one you love is a wonderful feeling, though in between the raindrops, seconds pass as your memories fall to those days and the clock ticks on. Love how this ties romance with the art of poetry, you once again have collected a few words, arranged them in a beautiful bouquet and placed them at our door step. Very , very good Frieda.

Wow, it sounds like the character in the poem describes the anticipation scenario of waiting for that person that the character is been with because at those moments the character's time is well spent, Applause.

Grazie mille Squink....
This is elegant. What a sweet memory of old love. It makes me feel all warm and fuzzy, as I am drawn to reminisce a bit on old friends and lovers in my own life.
Thank you for sharing this beautiful piece with me, Frieda.

Old age had taught me. The above lines are true. When we are in paradise. We want it to last forever. I enjoyed the complete poem. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.

Age has a way of doing that, we should go backwards in time, thanks Coyote.

There is a bitter sweet anticipation in this write. The vivid light at the end of the tunnel . The swirling calm after the thoughts of love. A splendid poem...:)

Lovely formatting for a stirring, reminiscent poem. I enjoyed how free form the words were, making the mentioned former rhymes stand out all the more. This struck the retired romantic in me, made maybe a small warm fuzzy feeling because of the ability to experience such remembrances. You're still a top-notch writer Frieda, thanks for sharing this piece.
