~Long Pauses~

~Long Pauses~

A Poem by Frieda P

You haunt my dreams
in long pauses of nightfall

a single breath at the nape of my neck
the scent of magnolias in the air

a calm filled with shudders
gasp of a sigh uttered

scorched of long ago places
written in script

that aspire to dusty shelves
one sweet day to revisit

in visions of twilight,
amber cognac
& blossomed desire

you give such a deep look at your passion! It's almost like memories jumping into the air. ...landing as small kisses trailing down the senses.Long pauses to let us know we are still breathing.I almost want to close the curtains as I read this for it makes me feel naked. you have done your job well here Frieda! Superb!

Lovely pauses to savor as the fragrance of your words took us to the soft whispers in your dream Frieda...Rose

'Fragrance of words' I like that Rose, thanks!
Lovely desire in this poem, I'd cut out "and blossomed desire" though, too many syllables in that last line compared to the rest of the poem's lines. Also it would be a lovely image to end on. Thank you for sharing.

Thanks eglantine, yes, it might be too many syllables but it's the essence of the poem in my mind..... read more
The beginning draws the reader in to a great treat of love , passion , scented magnolias , and visions shared...Splendid as always ...:)

Hahaha...:).....
As always...those captivating words from Frieda. This is a wonderful piece, but still I can feel that sadness in these lines:
"You haunt my dreams
in long pauses of nightfall"
"one sweet day to revisit "

How long is a night to feel the memories once more and then realize it's only a reminiscence?
Well-penned, Frieda.

Glad you enjoyed luviva, thanks.
How utterly romantic... long pauses of nightfall... aspiring to dusty shelves... Yes, feelings like this, should be breathed in slowly, remembered, the delicate blue of passion's flame... another beautiful piece from you Frieda... I love your poetry in this place...
