Objective Phantasy, futile at best...

Objective Phantasy, futile at best...

A Poem by Frieda P

The dust on the mirror nicely covers
a multitude of secrets       uncovered
intricate weavings of life entanglements,
look beyond the haze of incredibility
true reflections are merely presumptuous
perception lost in translation

Soul cannot be speculated,
reverie's contemplations,
are merely a kaleidoscopic distortion
unless you see the absolute intent
treading in footprints of object's image
of poetry's  authentic reality

Only kindred spirits in actuality
can see their own substantive expression
in the magnitude of recollections,
on the surface it's all fancy conjecture
beyond the deliberation
Is where truth in absoluteness lies,
a mere peer with the eyes
can prove virulent, futile at best

I like the subtle touch of spelling fantasy the way you have...I also like the (ironic?) idea of the mirror's dust "nicely" covering its secrets...this first stanza just blew me away, especially the last two lines, which were beautifully put, and went on to set the stage for the rest of the piece, which is a compelling study of those secrets referred to earlier...all in all, a very philosophical piece...love this one Mrs.R :)

far too clever for me. I didn't like 'absoluteness', did like 'fancy' and was spooked by 'virulent'.

Thanks for your thoughts just the same...you don't like the word or the concept?

I didn't like the word
To me this piece speaks of the natural warp of existence that occurs when eyes meet the reflective surface of a mirror. We, ourselves can gaze into it and see not what we know to be true, a friend standing beside us will gaze into the mirror and not see themselves as truth either, nor will they see you as truth. Thus just with two people and their individual and unique visions, perspectives and emotional resonance, there has become a myriad of possible outcomes to every gaze, be that with the eyes or in it's allusion, of thought.
The more people gazing, and questioning truth of what they see, in connection with more and more mirrors being present, in the form of a varying amound to technical devices that exist in our modern day; We find that the odds that one thought or feeling or truth in one person has little chance to be communicated, reflected, refracted, or passed in anyform without some twisting, misplacing or trading out of specific details.

Amazing we can communicate at all with mirrors in our lives... =)

Wonderful piece Frieda! An enjoyment to read and ponder over.

Ha mirrors are perplexing at times, thanks for such an insightful review Aaron, much appreciated, gl.. read more
The human relationship with our reflection can never trully be fixed, we always want something more from what we see, but mirrors do help us to see ourselves as we really are and us others see us and thats a start in terms of surface value. What lies beneath takes more than light!

Oh 'enthralling', love that word, thanks Rose! :-)
"unless you see the absolute intent

treading in footprints of object's image

of poetry's authentic reality"
This inspired me to write this:

"Walk a mile in my shoes , it will show you some clues. Tread the path of my reality , it will show you an insanity."
A splendid read and write...:)

We can read and say we understand, but do we truly understand. We can feel sadness and pain or love and joy, but do we truly know exactly how it feels in the heart of the poet...I think not. We all experience these things differently, we write, but unless we walk in your shoes, merely reading it to understand is futile at best. This poem really hits home my wonderful friend. I know as poets, often we place our hearts and our pains out here for the entire world to see and hope to get our message across, but still inside what we actually feel is so much more than we could ever out in words. Very nicely done, beautiful as always, relatable and amazing.
