Stranded Sentiments

Stranded Sentiments

A Poem by Frieda P

you paint me in revere'd peach'd brilliance
pen'd scriptures that leapt over the moon,
adorning waves of cerulean sea mist's diamonds
skywriting words of elevated beauty
wafting into the empyreal unknown
sang to me melodies of perfect harmony

yet these extravagant sentiments get stranded
on a lonely island when all that would suffice
is an 'I love you'...

Sometimes words are a bit too flowery for us to believe them. Still, it is nice to hear compliments and feel the adoration...to bask in the glorious sentiment. Then again, there are those who use the flowery words instead of the three simple words we really need to hear....the ones that make us belive and understand. Is there a "perfect harmony" in matters of the heart? I wonder. There are times when too much is not enough. I am rambling....let me just say the imagery was glorious in this one, Frieda. Lydi**

Those islands indeed can be very lonely...for both parties...the one who longs to hear those words and the one who might just be afraid to say them...but eventually, if it was meant to be, they will be said.

Those three words are actually very easy to say, 3 words, 3 syllables, easy...but to mean them completely is another thing altogether.

Frieda, you always have a message, always something to say and you do it so eloquently that we have no choice but to listen. Beautiful again my dear friend, your poetry makes it seem like spring every day of the year.

I see some sadness at the end, more like a longing for something else but the only thing that comes out is i love you, i think we all feel this way, expecting more than love..I loved this one as usual my dear friend

is an 'I love you'…

Grazie mille Pryde.
yes, sometimes we hear all but the words we really want to hear...

it's not so hard to say, if we really feel it...but sometimes love is lost when not expressed "simply"---

Funny how some people can't merely say the words, thanks jacob.
I had to reread this one - twice. Grand gestures sometimes don't mean as much as the little things.

Some of the best things in life are free, thanks KL>
A beautiful description of those moments where many waste words, when all of their sentiments could be expressed in three simple, essential words; "I love you". The older used of grammar, such as the "peach'd" with a dropped e really helps express your point, and how love is more ancient than language itself.

Ahh so true, Friedalicious!!!

In the end, all we need is the simplicity of love....
It comes down to the organic essence of an "I love you"...it would indeed suffice...

A Lovely expression!~xoxo~

What a lovely sentiment where words fall short, and though you are filled with all these incredibly descript images of adulation, the simplest phrase "i love you" is all that will sum it up. I know that feeling! I love your use of dropped 'e' in the -ed phrases. It gives the poem even more ancient elegance. This piece makes me want to expand my vocabulary, and go kiss my husband all at once! Well done!
