Mirror'd Reflections~

Mirror'd Reflections~

A Poem by Frieda P
"

"Life is what happens while you are busy making other plans" ~ John Lennon

"
Mystic zephyrs waft'd through my hair
scented baby's breath of my youth,
mirror'd image sees a random view
each etch'd line tells a turning story
eyes glance harmonious patterns
weaving together daunting history
music of tomorrow's past beginnings
heart still yearns for a peaceful melody
life plays out whilst reflections glare
sanctimonious gray humbles relished appeal
woven through the sketches of my mind
time races the speed of light in relative indifference
leaving behind zest's adulterated delivery
haunting images speak indisputable gospel
unruffled spirit's journey steals attention
from drab fields of heather'd deviations,
 gingerly thwarting a docile surrender
 within dusky addled contemplative musings

Oh Mama F, this is beyond beautiful. You're just the best poetess I know. :-)

What we see in the mirror now - looking back at us - is the person we are now, the life we created for ourselves. And sometimes we like the reflection, we like the person looking back - the life we created for ourselves we done it by ourself.

I loved the description and wording of this one. The imagery was so perfect.

Perfecto! Flip flops & all that jazz ~ safe haven, sighs. xo

"never go gently into the night" to paraphrase a poet... (Dylan Thomas maybe??), tip toeing thru the cobwebs of our mind, disturbing the dust and gray... yes, the time light speeds our lives, breaking little pieces across the world (or our corner of it).. but and its a big but, what do we do.. how do we as part of humanity, accept that is that.. or as you say: "gingerly thwarting a docile surrender.." I think how we understand the mortality of our lives often leads to how dearly we hold onto it and experience it.. In the words of the Great and Wondeful Oz, "Never Surrender (insert Frieda here)!!!!

May not be the intent of your poem but its where my mid took me as I read your internal interrogation. Ithis is a beautifully written poem Frieda

A triumph of a piece of old English and glaring emotion, well done, good read.

Grazie mille love.
Our past is us, what we were and what we are to become. Glancing in that mirror we see a reflection of what is right now, this is who we are and exactly what we have become. The key now is to figure out how to smile at that reflection staring back from the polished glass. Frieda, you always send my imagination soaring, you cause me to think, but fortunately you also always cause me to smile...whether I am looking in a mirror or not. Another astonishing piece from your dassling pen.

Hahaha exactly!!
At some point do we get old by living most of our current lives remembering the past? I hope I'm ancient when that happens. Nice work, it holds together well.

hahaha ;-P
I got thought against action, there must be a formula for that somewhere, too much thought and not enough action gets you nowhere and too much action and not enough thought gets you somewhere. It's hard to know what to do. I like the ending, it gives it a very open feel.
