Twist'd fate....

Twist'd fate....

A Poem by Frieda P

sell thy soul for white lightning's glare

falling into your darkly crown'd rapture

reigned down in torrents of scorch'd feathers

deviltry in disguise of absolution's grace

masquerading in snake charmer's illusions

twisted fate knelt in quagmire's demise

flipped a notion under its sinking breath

one hundred proof red wine's squeeze

confessional's lie in rewards to sin again

blessed are the cracked for they do not see

pretty scarlet orbs fell from pardon

    in painfully peering testy skies

temptress captivated by mirth in kingdom's girth

ecstasy of agony 'tween the gray spatters

sold down the shiny river's holy water

offerings & trinkets of delicate lace

bent knee fireplace amenities excluded

prisoners held hostage in cobalt'd clouds

promises of poppy's alluring sting

in the name of who's gospel'd hallelujah

cloak'd in haunted ever afters

   wrapped in warped delusional remorse

tinged of crimson's secret scent'd lure

took a dive where angel's tremble

rushing hangnail moon's salacious rancor

   ascended in sanctity's virginal volition

surrender'd in a dwelling of salvation's embrace

After reading your poem (several times now), I stood took inventory on all my moveable parts (and grey matter) and let out a big hallelujah, I'm still alive and not in some delusional, hypocritical dream looking for redemption. Of course now Bob Marley's " Redemption Songs" is playing in my head, but I'm getting ahead of myself. Frieda, WTF (not allowed to curse)!! This is some trip you are taking us on.. delusional remorse, virginal volition, and more.. but with all you metaphorically and imaginative images can there be a salvational embrace, surrendered or not.. I think not..

Of course another explanation for my review is too much of that 100 proof wine... hic. But high or not..er..I mean lover

I don't pay him hardly enough...ha, thanks so much FP!
there's a little bit of everything in this poem. I love the imagery going on and the words feel sophisticated and yet sarcastic, like they're taking their jab at the world and its going-ons. I like the bitterness of this poem, and count myself blessed for being young enough to not understand them all quite yet.

Thanks Simran, glad you enjoyed. :-)
I felt a lot of "selling your soul" and religious hypocrisy within the context of this poem.

Lines like:
confessional's lie in rewards to sin again
blessed are the cracked for they do not see

Reminded me of how confessions/pardons make way to repeat offenders and that there is no true penance. And then I found your favorite... "volition." Your poetry makes me now use that word in my daily conversation. References to white lightning and 100 proof red wine had me wanting to get a drink, but again, I believe these were analogies to sin.

An interesting piece. A lot going on. Sin, remorse all in some cyclical whirlpool.

Different, but I enjoyed. Nice work, Frieda.

Anytime, dear. You know we think alike! I agree wholeheartedly.
And this is why you sit so highly amongst us... Just incredible magic going on in this piece. You truly display that writing is a gifted passion. I loved every line here... Dense complexities, but so very reachable. Brilliant!

"100 proof red wine." Gotta be made by the Russians. Some interesting if not slightly surreal imagery in this one. Great Job.
