Darkly flutter'd ~~

Darkly flutter'd ~~

A Poem by Frieda P

Darkly entranced
butterflies,

flying
 towards the night shadows
             fluttered
to their demise,
too close to a
deceptive black moon,

competing with
                      the numbness of death

Like many of your poems, you create a mood very well and deliver a profound thought in the final line.
It seems sad at first, this dark demise. Yet, as you say so eloquently, it is a staving off of the nothingness of death. You invite me to ask myself many questions. Is pain not preferable to death at times? How much more is it desirable to feel a dark "fluttering" when there is nothing else?

Lovely writing.

Beware of that deceptive moon... Imagery both ominous and beautiful, Frieda.

Grazie mille Rita!
Butterflies are such beautiful things and its sad that something so beautiful lives only a short time. The flying towards the night shadows to their own demise...knowing that death is coming would not be a very nice thought at all.

Troy

Indeed they are, I have a special affinity for them myself...thanks Troy.
I always love the images included within the poem to get the imagination started. This was dark and lovely ) smile and not dark and morbid. I don't do to well with macabre or dark poems unless it Edgar Alan Poe-sque but this poem hit the spot and was bitter sweet darkness. It sounds like you wrote straight from the image. Splendid dahling.

Thanks muchly Pat! :-) x
Ohhh imagine living a life in a state of numbness, well death would surely not matter. Imagine not being able to FEEL the goods the bads, the ups the downs, the light the dark, the warmth the cold, what would be the point of LIFE ... Imagine not being about to feel the sensation of laughing so much your belly aches and you almost pee your pants whislt trying to wipe tears of laughter from your face.... oohh no, I do not wish to be numb to life, i love the feel of feeling hard and deep, I love being felt hard and deep too (but thats another poem right? teehee).

'Fluttered to their demise' ,,, all I can say is phew, lucky I know that life itself is ever flowing and if I am a butterfly in my next life, I will be sure to cause a riot wherever I go cos it won't last and I will be dead before redemption even kicks in ... hahahaha ... you should come join me chick we can cause havoc as two crazy butterflies together, then we can fly ... hmmm ... shall we fly off a waterfall touching wings as we fall to our smiling death feeling the water pummelling our wings so ferociously as we bathe in the eternal flight of unified energy...

ahhh now look at that its not even six am here ... look at what thoughts you have encouraged so early ... sending love to you chick chick ... sending love x x

This is the first time I've reviewed one of your poems in about a month, so I'm very rusty when it comes to articulating how your words make me feel, not that you don't already know...the idea of flying to one's demise is powerful, and something that I can relate to, even when I think I'm fighting such a fate...yet the call of the black moon is so strong...you never fail to move me with your words Mrs.R...you know you're my favourite poet and I'm glad to see you writing again...a painfully beautiful work...I will try to leave better reviews in the future :) xo

They all feel like one of those days now don't they? But you've done the same for me Mrs.R .xo
Vry sad...butterflies don't live long anyway, and it should never be in the dark.

A very heart touching poem, indeed.
I'm so happy that you're back. I was kinda waiting for you to be back before I put up my new work. Now, that you're here, I must do it by the end of this week. :)

Haha! Thank you. :)
Like this too, the layout, and the sparse tyle gives the imagery a lot of power....good one.
