~ disorderly poetic license

~ disorderly poetic license

A Poem by Frieda P
"

just a thought after a conversation with a fellow poet...

"
Poetry is not gospel
    take these thoughts
               with a grain of salt,
add some vodka and stir
drink it in your glass of choice...
half empty, half full
        ...hold the holy water back
  swallow or swish it around
      in drunken or lucid citations
                      waxing intoxicated,
   salute
       to disorderly poetic license
   words don't mind the mix
when you shake them to the core
                 hallelujah, cheers & amen

your muse hardly catches its breath...
you are a wealth of words my friend.
no, poetry is not gospel...it is more parable, a story to tell another story...and often our readers take us literally...when we are more figurative than they give us credit for being.

Indeed... hold that holy water back! Poetry is for the free and unchained. Loved it, as this is my motto as well.

Thought you might agree G...nice to see you sweetie!
Shame on me for the late review on this one Mrs.R ;P I remember reading it, more than once, cuz I was so enthralled by it...I don't know what happened after that...anyways I'll start with the obvious: you're brilliant...I've given reasons why before and I offer another one now...this is surprisingly candid, a stripping down of the lush imagery and unparalleled visionary encouragement...you practically flaunt this stylistic departure in the opening, and yet there is this: words don't mind the mix / when you shake them to the core...maybe that's why I never got to the review here, those lines knocked me out cold...just like that, you become quintessential Freida again, just as we're getting acquainted with the change in style, and reminds us that it's impossible to take your words with a grain of salt...brilliance is never that fleeting...pass the vodka, I need to calm my reeling senses ;) xo

Hahaha No doubt Mrs.R, no doubt ;)
I like the fact you added Cohen on the Author's note, and like him, this poem does no wrong. Alcohol is medicine for some damn it... But seriously, I enjoyed how you sloshed the words around into a groggy and beautiful tapestry... K.

The illustrious Mr Cohen is my favorite poet, thanks again K.
I'd start with a beer and then take mine with JD, poetry is free and it can be whatever you want it to be as you've so nicely expressed. So does poetry go so well with vodka because you love it? Or because you get a bit mad? Either way great piece x

All of the above :) thanks SW.
*clink* - I'll raise a glass to that! "Poetry is not gospel..." - sometimes I have more faith in it, though... A wonderfully crafted poem, Frieda - now I really owe you a margarita!

Thanks Will, jazz'd you did...
Ha ha! Salutations and a minty julip morning to you too, FP. Good golly, the more we change the more we stay the same... like words of poetry. I have a wardrobe that's replenished regularly but it's still the same. Tolerably intolerable and shoes should be hung on the ears of the moron that designs them. If they're not dead by sunset then they might be fit to look at. I like your glassware. Pour me another.

You're most welcome
I like mine shaken not stirred...
stole that from 007...
my name is Bond...James Bond...
this has a trial and effect to it:

Poetry is not gospel

some its by the book and nothing else...
yet the diverseness of words ---
like poetry presents many and not one standard...
