sipping coffee with a rock star from Mars....‏

A Poem by Frieda P
"

random rumbling's ramble

"
Flammable dandelions in my iced lullaby
nostalgia for one in a cage's gilded alibi
wild horses on fire, rocking a bloody sun
castles crumble in the needle of an eye
layover collision in the hiccups of whimsy's madness
ecstasy's debacle'd brambles were twice forsaken
dancing in dove stew's handicapped heart lounge
raven and the butterfly had a pity party at the peanut gallery
audacious pomposity came to call, veer'd a left to stage right
tripping over images in rear hue mirror's kaleidoscopic view
bodacious Beethoven rumbles a thousand poetic kisses deep
whilst Walt slayed fractured Krakens cawing on his way to green,
once upon a dream and pomegranate wine's zephyr'd promises
canopied under wild thyme blowing in poppy's scarlet rhymes
still I sat quietly, sipping coffee with a rock star from Mars....

Wow, just wow...there is no review I can offer that can do justice to this undisputed epic...you continue to outdo yourself and blow me away in the process...I have no lines to single out, for every one is absolute perfection...of course the title hooked me on impact, but the poem that followed is one of the best things I've read in a long time...even the clip is perfect...you know I love elemental imagery, and the clash of fire and ice right out of the gate was enough to leave me awestruck...it will be a criminal act if this does not appear on the top of every meaningful list on the site...this felt like a visit to a coffee shop on Mars, but I could go to Mars myself, and not in my wildest dreams would I come back with something like this...'raven and the butterfly had a pity party at the peanut gallery'...I suppose this line is the unofficial cornerstone of the poem, but how can one truly pick out a cornerstone in this feast of poetic brilliance? I can say nothing more, I am out of superlatives...this is phenomenal poetry from the most phenomenal poet I know...you're a pretty phenomenal person too ;) This should be in an Oxford anthology, and would not be out of place amongst the grandmasters of any era, and I have lots of anthologies...again, I can only offer an unequivocal wow...xo

David Bowie and his spiders were from Mars, but while they may have drunk coffee, don't think they would hang out in Maleficent's dark forest.. It's hard to keep true to our dreams Frieda, there is too much ungly reality in life to allow us the illusions and/or allusions of our younger years... Most are destroyed in realities crumbling castles and bloody suns, and even when there is a happy ever after it is tainted with these nightmares...
I love your stumbling left turns while veering right... and the thing about life is that it always holds out possibilities of third or fourth times. And... I don't think you could sit quietly, you have way too much to say and while you say "random rumbling's ramble", well maybe, but seems from reading there is nothing random nor rambles here in these words... just sharp arrows directed at the realities of life's inequalities.. Beware those Krakens!!!

Nice!!! This reminded me of a musician by the name of Renee Lusier where he will present cards and the singers will say this phrases that would come to them under what seeimingly is chaotic for he uneducated. That's how I feel when I read this "uneducated" enough to pierce through so I can only go by and impressionist view. It is woven in such way that at the end it leaves you thinking "ecstasy's debacle'd brambles were twice forsaken" that for me was the firestarter.

There is only one Frieda (football(soccer) holligans chant)

Thankyou

Never heard of him, I'll have to google that one...jazz'd you enjoyed my brambles....!
This reads like a light morning dream...

raven and the butterfly had a pity party at the peanut gallery

this reminds me of so much my friends, and the peanut gallery of men trying to interupt our thoughts.

and of course the scene from Maleficent. perfect.

Ha we must have the same friends so. :) Thanks Ance...
Interesting words and beautiful scenic video attached. Very colorful in words and scenes. Some definite randomness here, but not too much.

Glad you thought so Blogger, thanks so much....
I grok this! (Sorry, Micheal Valentine Smith is the only person I know from Mars) Beautiful flowing words weave a lovely story within a story for me. 'once upon a dream and pomegranate wine's zephyr'd promises,' promises much and delivers. (Pomegranate wine appears more than a few times in your writing... I must get some of this potent libation if it produces such amazing metaphors and beautifully turned phrases. I haven't seen the movie (though I did watch your proffered trailer), but I suspect this piece sums it up nicely. Great work!
