She...makes no excuses

She...makes no excuses

A Poem by Frieda P

She is soft and tender,
but not in a posh pink kind of way,
 more like gooey marshmallows dripping
in dark chocolate sauce and cherry wine
She's tough and resilient,
             yet unlike brittle nails,
more like a vibrant lioness, protecting her cubs....
She doesn't need a knife to cut your heart out,
one look, and you've turned to stone
She's playful in a big kitten with claws kind of way
          ...serious like Wuthering Heights
She garners her strength from within,
drawn to the moon's horizons, like rivers that flow to the sea
She is a woman standing strong within her glory and malfeasance,
and she makes no excuses for her imperfections...

Because her imperfections are hers and she embraces them....no one can take that away from her! What a glorious character study you have written here, Frieda. You speak of a strong willed woman with a heart as big as New Jersey! :) I enjoyed it very much. Lydi**

"She never gives out and she never gives in, she just changes her mind" has there ever been a better song for women than this one. I also love "Breakfast at Tiffany's". Audrey is wonderful in that movie, it's wonderful tribute to her and I think the song you chose is perfect. I stopped by earlier and read this one, love the Icon.

There is nothing more attractive than an independent woman who knows what she wants and works hard at getting exactly what she wants..one should never make excuses for their imperfections, as it's these imperfections that make us our unique selves.. Inspiring write.. :)

Some people, some men especially are intimidated by an independent woman...thanks for your thoughts .. read more
I find that all women are truly gifts from God. They don't ever need excuses to be
who they are...They just are. They're compassionate, loving, and gentle, with an
inner strength that cannot be matched by any man. I personally believe that women
are not given the credit they deserve... For they are the ones that bring true
beauty to the world. Thank You for sharing such a beautiful piece

Ahh thanks Luis, more men should feel as such, you're a kind soul my friend.
I adore the poem, the images of marshmallows and lioness ... but not sure if I love or hate the woman. There is nothing so valuable as self confidence and knowing exactly who you are in this anti-woman world-- an incredible, beautiful thing... yet... - imperfections-- if they hurt you or the ones you love, are not okay to just let them remain a part of yourself...
A lot of thought with this though...

Thanks for your kind words Ayushi. :)
Oh my I fell for the woman on that poem at line three damn I am easy! But seriously though, I will be the first to recognize that it is not easy for a man to be like that nevermind a woman and albeit differences in gender I feel women have a much steeper hill to climb. But things are moving slowly and femininity is sought more than ever in fact as a side note in here football clubs (that's soccer for some of you) have come to the conclusion that it is essential to have them making decisions so every club has moved embrace that.

Like a chameleon of poetry Frieda many colours all enticing though

Thankyou
