Just a Check-UpA Poem by AidenAbout always being sick from a young age, illness becomes a part of who you are when you realise that it will never go away.Diagnose me, I need a label to be, I cannot be without it Check again, check again, there must be something wrong, An arrhythmia, a bite, fracture, scoliosis, anything. Take my arms, probe them with scattered needles, Place the oxygen mask over my face, let me breathe in your
love, Stick the tabs onto my naked body, my heart will explode at
their touch. The hospital is my home, the nurses are my mothers, They tend to my needs and I have so many; A failed liver, a cancer, osteopenia, TSS. The peaceful drip of the IV, dizzying draw of blood, That satisfying sting of the glucose meter I crave it all; prescription is my drug and I want more,
more. Check again, check again, health is not on my mind. © 2017 Aiden |
