Footstool (in collaboration with Zahra and advise from Arturo)

Footstool (in collaboration with Zahra and advise from Arturo)

A Poem by Einstein Noodle

The Footstool

with grandiose beginnings
wrapping three walls
plied high with pillows
Ottomane of velours d'Utrecht

life continues its pirouette,
igniting an ignis fatuus
shapes generating and erasing each other,
there is dark - and light there is

as if our cosmos filtered
on point
lift your tired feet
place them on my back

as God is man finding place
earth his footstool
engineered within such architecture
we become grains of heaven

Engineered within such architecture

I feel this line encompasses the entire poem...a hand behind the creation of Earth, urging it to move...

But it is as you both have said (very eloquently), we are the Greater God's footstool, until we humble ourselves before God and creates again - this time transforming who we are into something beautiful...

I imagined the journey of life - birth - exiting the womb (walls of velour) and shapes (people, places, things) coming into our lives and leaving them - the getting tired (old age - if we are lucky to reach it) and finally becoming one with the earth again (grains of dust) - breaking down eventually into carbon - grains of space dust - 'heaven'.
Very elemental write and a fine meshing collab - :))

we become the grains of heaven that we already were - you be the foot stool and I shall be floorboard holding you up underneath - as I see through my own grooves in the wood the earth chancing me to return once again to where I once was - as the dust picks up and lifts the earth back into the wind, I watch on as the particles mingle with heavenly stardust - the wind whips up some more the stardust floats up 'the powers above' nostrils to release an almighty sneeze and well what do you know ... there we all are in a parallel universe but this time I am the footstool and you connected once more with the ethereal ...

and again we remember to flow ...

well I dunno - that's what I got our of your fine collaboration - LOVE TO YOU BOTH XX

E, You and your friends have created a beautifully poem. I really like the last two stanzas, and the last line especially. It reminds me of Atlas holding the world on his back. Well done.

What a vivid and deep expression, using such a simple tool, like a foot stool!.. Reminded of Newton's quote....".if I have seen further, it is by standing on the shoulders of giants".....Hope I am not reading too much into this, but in a positive way, we may have a "foot stool" season in life, when things are pressing down, and we are taking the heat. However, change will come - we will not always remain beneath, but by bearing our burden patiently, our days of "being the footstool" will end, and we can take up our divine purpose when the earth, and everything in it, becomes our footstool.....:)

Going about and acting life by spinning around, only to find self in dizzy spells, where the deceptive goals (thank you for the ignis fatuus:) tire the best of us. And will the solace be found while resting our feet on this very much self aware ottoman? If yes, well I need to get me one of those.
A great collaboration piece that I enjoyed reading very much!

From the point of view of the footstool comes this short but profound piece, causing us to pause and reflect on 'life's pirouette'. Typically, the Ottoman provides guaranteed comfort but with it's mock-velvet covering (juxtaposed against its 'grandiose beginnings') and the friar's lantern burning 'foolish fire', one cannot help but feel misled or duped by the Ottoman's promise. Perhaps even those rejected from hell need a place to prop their feet. Indeed there is light and dark in this poem and God is responsible for all. A great collaboration folks.
