A Poem by hardeep sabharwal
"

The depression

"
Of blank sorrows, in a little shop,
Can you believe, it is only here,
My wish to exist, went to cease,
Doctor sharma's advice, Dosage of,
Alprex and sensible twenty five,
Now a compatible associate,
And substitute for life,
Little less subsaline eyes bargained,
For a coin which was not too far,
When spit fire tongue told to be shopkeeper,
I smiled with a shindy on the face,
Which was not so habitual of the things it did,
And used the pencil to put prices,
Instead of working on canvas, once
Now made them only papers, for
Rupees Ten per kilogram, little more
Price than I have ever expected of vitality.

Well I can't really say a lot on it, I'm afraid I'm a bit confused. I know there are poems that don't rhyme, I get the feeling there is some pattern or story to it, but there's just something I don't understand I guess. There are also a couple terms I've never even seen (Alprex and shindy) that I assume might be slang. I hate to be a pain, but I might need an explanation to give my thoughts.

You're welcome :)
Everything in this world has a value. Sadly the value is measured and that too by a price. We completely have forgotten that there are things that cannot be bought against money and so these are left neglected. I wonder a smile must have been very high priced for we have lost it, its an essential resource for free living though.

We call the world insane but its us who have made it so. Insanity as I feel is required until that overcasts the vitality and morality of life.

Thanks a lot Dipanjan
everyone in this "perfect" world is depressed, the intensity however, only differs.
so maybe it is about the way we deal with it and not about how hard life has hit us.
powerful poem.
i loved it!!!

sometimes when we can't control our depression, and its eating us up into the deep deep emotional outburst that we cannot think for ourselves or stand up in our daily lives, we consult a doctor and gives us drugs that helps us sane in our insane world... sometimes its too ironic... very expressive piece, my friend. .

Reading this was like reading a song in the sense that there was a meaning to evaluate and relate to. I understand the struggles of working in places that threaten to kill the soul. The part where you mentioned the pencil to write prices instead of creating canvas was where the gripping became a chokehold. I do hope that the person that this is about can overcome the depression, and still find time to work on their canvas between doing the world his needed duty and resting to start over again.
