Silver Sweet

Silver Sweet

A Poem by hazy
"

A poem about the longing for freedom

"
I want a silent twilight
Where I can vanish out the window
And walk underneath the trees

I’ll tell them my childish dreams
Under the comfort of swaying branches
And frost bitten wind
Of the gentle chill of January

“My bones ache,” I sigh,
“For the silver sweet taste of freedom”
Freedom, freedom, freedom, I say,
but oh, I don’t truly want that

For the trees don’t make good company, and a walk
drenched in silver sweet freedom
Is still a walk of solitude

Reading this late at night. Strangely, a short while ago, the wind picked up and branches started tapping on my window panes. Suddenly thought of them wanting to come in out of the weather.. (not something I'd really want of course) but a mind awake is a mind gone crazy, they say, whoever they are.

So yes, understand how walking beneath trees can give you different thoughts, one minute good, one minute unsure. Bur the way they move and the sounds they make in hard weather really is something to feel, hear, see. Your words, so very well written, seem to feel that magical language, so.. the walks have certainly created a very special poem, hazy.

I have always found trees such good company. In their presence I can feel a sense of freedom. They whisper, they chatter and I am often more content with them than my own species. Thanks for sharing.

I liked it even if it does sound a bit indecisive of the outcome that is sought. Freedom is a big word as well. I mean in what it can mean and encompass. Freedom from a bad relationship or marriage, freedom from a dead end job. Freedom of a daily routine that is mundane at best. Though I will say, regardless of what it means in this poem, a walk amongst the trees is always a good thing. Trees I have found are very good listeners. Still all in all, a very good poem.
