Near or Far

Near or Far

A Poem by Crowley
"

Heavy sigh....

"

Your footprints in the frost delicately placed

Observance and understanding, just two of many things

That hold me dear and tight to your chest

I can see you just as clearly when you are away

And when the wind whispers your name sweetly

Across my face which is soft and without worry

I know that I have found in you, that safest place

Where I stand firmly in who I have become

The sound of a door closing plays all sides

A future, a homecoming, filter out the world, private performances

Focusing on my time with your spirit whole

And creating imagery that transcends physical boundary

And when the hummingbird brings hint of your breath

And tickles my nose with a scent uniquely yours

I will carry your thoughts and answer your questions thoughtfully

Mixing prayers for one more touch before evening falls

Near or far, you can feel my hand on your shoulder

The lightest embrace sustaining a longing and love

That will not grey with time and atrophy

But will shine with new penny brilliance upon your every return

Beautiful, brilliant and romantic. It was a very smooth read and very much enjoyed it.

Such pristine words Crowley. I am in love with the love in them. One would be so lucky to have a relationship like this that withstands all the comings and goings of life. Eloquent language and lovely, balanced verses bursting with vivid natural imagery. So many brilliant and memorable lines. Yay for romance!

Hate to be picky, but I wonder if your title is meant to be "or"? This is one of the most romantic things I've read, in a good way (I'm usually not into romance!) I love the celebration of being in a solid comfortable relationship so it doesn't matter if parted, just another way to enjoy savoring each other thru time. Reminds me of a lady I worked with -- her hubby was on a nuclear submarine, 6 months docked, 6 months out to sea -- these two loved it, becuz it kept their marriage fresh & full of anticipation & gratitude! *smile* Fondly, Margie
