Crossroads Oblivion

Crossroads Oblivion

A Poem by icelandicblue

They stood at the crossroads
and made a devil's deal
he didn't believe that
it was irrevocably sealed.

They worked out the details
which were one sided at best,
he found true oblivion that
paved his hellish quest.

He sunk to  dark depths
his innocence peeled away,
he'd do the unthinkable
falling further astray.

The road to redemption
covered in needles and blood
the slopes are too slippery-
to grasp those that he loves.

So we wait for salvation
for the light to be found
and hope that he finds
his own solid ground.

Our love never wavers
we all pray for his life
and trust he survives
all this danger and strife.

We live with sharp terror
in our hearts and our souls,
and we wait for the time
when this family is whole.

Can't believe I missed this one. Your words are those of so many families hoping for an end to a loved ones addiction. Sad but not without faith and hope. ;-)

Well my thoughts are with you always...x
I'm sure many are praying for your loved one and your family. This is a tragedy for him and it affects all of you so deeply. You sound like a loving family and in time he may return home. I will keep all of you in my prayers.

Thank you jacob. It's as bad as it has ever been.
the crossroads. so steeped in history and misery (at times) Robert Johnson,i believe, did find salvation in his songs; but we can slide too far (your 4th verse so clearly and poetically expresses it).. i join all that support you in this hard time. praying and pleading.

So true Mark,
Thank you.
"The road to redemption
covered in needles and blood
the slopes are too slippery-
to grasp those that he loves."

THE ROADS ARE TOO SLIPPERY TO GRASP THOSE THAT HE LOVES... Wow, this is very powerful ...My father was an alcoholic and though I have no idea what this is really about that is what it brought to mind.. Then I read on and its someone that needs to find salvation...and though he has not yet found that your love remains unconditional..
" we wait for the time
when this family is whole."

So poignant for many today but I feel this as very very personal for you. I hope he finds that door that leads him out into the light. Thank you for the rr and a wonderful poem.. huggs!!
