Weep Not For Me This Christmas

Weep Not For Me This Christmas

A Poem by icelandicblue

Weep not for me this Christmas

as you lay the Yuletide boughs.

I am free from all this sickness,

I am at peace I can avow.

You feel this loss profoundly

when surround by delight.

Please know I loved you soundly

Sweet love 'twill be all right.

My soul calls now for fields

free to embrace the coming cold,

my heart be finally healed

at birth sorrows were foretold.

Life loses its sweet shine

and our many moments  fleeting.

For always I'll be thine

though my heart has now stopped beating.

I will lie beneath this meadow deep

I shall sleep the sleep of sages.

Visit still, yet do not weep

for I am now the dust of ages.

geez this is so sad...a really strong write, written in apostrophe...as Emily D. often did...

the speaker trying to console the other person..although not easy to do.
never even noticed the rhyme...nicely subtle.

Wow this is really sad. If I'd been drinking when I read it probably would have made me cry. (Alcohol, for better or worse makes me emotional.) It's beautifully weaved together with excellent flow and rhymes, Outstanding work blue.

I never want to make you cry my friend, but thank you. I appreciate your beautiful review.
I like the balance in your poems, they are quite symmetrical. In this particular poem I like the way you have blunted the edge of pain (of loss)...I personally like it better when your topic comes in the middle of the poem, giving it its anchor (or pivot, more aptly). In this one, it is the opening line. So it sort of took that smile away from me.

However, very well-written. A pleasure to read. Thank-you for sharing.

Anne, this is so profoundly sad but in some sense extremely beautiful. These thoughts I think find us all now and again, to place our hearts out there in full view of the world, be they beating or still, they remian hearts filled...

Beautiful my friend.
