The Garden of the Moon

The Garden of the Moon

A Poem by icelandicblue

I stepped through the dark curtain of night
surrounded in the most delicate of beauty
in the garden of the moon.

Cool light illuminated the pale yellow and white flowers
that swayed in a summer zephyr infused with jasmine.
I moved, a silhouette, in soft and silent steps

as not to wake the sleeping denizens
of this midnight paradise.
Caught in the witching hour

I could smell magic in the air
enveloping me, caressing me,
welcoming me to nature's sacred temple.

And it was there I prayed in tinctured whispers
while silver teardrops dotted the ground in gratitude
that my sojourn in this hallowed place would last

until the sun rose and cracked the sky in purple hues
and I am reborn beneath the luminous canvas
ready to venture unto a destiny untold.

Lol.....thank you blue and you are oh so welcome and WELCOME BACK :)
I love to be outside on a summer night, and that is why I love this poem. I think that this is some of your very best work. I have only one tiny question. Are the silver teardrops dew, rain, actual tears, or something outside of my limited vision?

Haunting; the imagery in that was beautiful and eloquent. I loved the language: really stunning.

No problem, sometimes it just takes a step back and someone else's eye.
Ice, I can identify with this poem. I ventured out into the wilds of my back yard late one night when the moon was high in the dead of winter (trying to open the water valves so the water would drip) at almost midnight when the rest of the world was asleep, and there was a dark, other-worldly quality about the experience that is highly reminiscent of this poem. Thank you for publishing this beautiful work of art.
