The Light of Liberation

The Light of Liberation

A Poem by icelandicblue

Evil lurks in plain sight,
a swath of shades swirl
around us in a tornado

of thoughts we carry
and choices we make-
where we become our deeds.

We cannot pray it all away,
it must be forced into exile
collectively with bare hands.

Let the light envelop you
and feel the white fire
as it consumes the black flame.

There will be release when
the shadows  finally peel away
and freedom burns a path for all.

I really admire the progression in this poem. The descriptions in your first three stanzas paint a picture of the darkness in our world. Those lines implore the reader to contemplate the issues of our era. The aspect of this piece I admire most is the turn in the fourth stanza. Your image about the white light is transcendent and uplifting. Your lines make a bold statement that more violence won't bring the peace we crave.

Overall, this one reminds of the Martin Luther King Jr quote:
Darkness cannot drive out darkness only light can do that.
Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that.

Extremely well done with this piece.

Well if that is nor inspiring words I don't know what is… it is all a state of mind to be free of negativity in the world and finding true happiness.

You are welcome. My reactions is a reflection of your fine work.
You had me with the first line, a smath of shades swirl (those syllables) yummy; like a tornado. Where we become our deeds. I love it. And quite true. Very thought provoking. I'm thinking more of who I am in this world with every word: forced into exile collectively with bare hands. The metaphysical powers of this writing is so engaging, especially with the third and final stanzas. All of our compressed thoughts, the good, bad and ugly, you reveal slowly and perfectly. Thank you. Great writing again.

You are quite the poet. I am glad you like the reviews....I try.
I think of all the fires and protests...knowing that is not the way...at least the tornadic, violent protests...that accomplishes nothing...
where is that white fire of peace?
it is happening everywhere now...verdicts and protests...all the craziness won't stop until all of us see the light.

Thanks so much Woody. If only it could be done for everyone.
Well, and simply stated, a good piece of writing. There is a show at Disneyland called Fantasmic, I have seen it a number of times, your descriptions evoked that show for me, evil shadows purged by fire, and freedom prevailed.
