For What It's Worth

For What It's Worth

A Poem by idiotproof--1

is it worth a broken heart
to be able to break all the others?
what is it like
to sew together comedy and tradgidy
so you can pretend to be fine when everything
is coming undone
how does it feel to waltz with your emptiness
through the thousands of elaborate masks we all wear
to hide our hollow souls
and fade into the nothingess we all have inside
what do you feel when you break
and you throw youself blindly into your pain
because it's the realist thing you can feel
you hold it tight until its numb again.
does hiding really work
does it help to be the only one who knows you
so they can never judge you
so they cannot infect you with their poison feelings
do you feel better now
now that you have everything you ever wanted
do these objects fill the void of emotions you lack
do they help you feel
or are you still wearing a mask to show your emotions
we're all dressing up our nightmares
making them beautiful for the show
putting spotlights on our fears
and whispering sweet nothings to our tradgedies
we paint smiles on masks and wear them with a frown
because who would ever know the difference
we're walking with our heads down
accedentally falling into eachothers lives
we listen to others pain to feel better about ours
but nothing takes it away
nothing fills the emptiness
nothing lights the dark
so tell me
is it worth a broken heart
to make everyone else feel the same
