shadows come to life: a childhood nightmare

It was midnight on a Sunday in mid-July. Teddy Brooks lay in his bed, sound asleep. Teddy's bedroom was dark and peaceful, like the stillness of a twilight sky. Suddenly, a figure convulsed as if a part of the darkness was moving. Teddy's instincts quickly responded as he sprung from his laying position. He was scared out of his wits as he stared into the shadows. The eyes of a tall silhouette bore into him like a knife. Teddy felt a scorching pain in his head and body as he writhed in his loft bed. Abruptly, everything went black as his corpse hit the floor.
