Broken Love Leaves No Return

Two people fall out of love!

  

       Battered hearts and Fractured love,

    contrast ominous pain on tarnish faces.

    Silent voices hear no apologies

    within the emptiness that screams 

    against muted ears.

    Meaningless nostalgia brings no chance

     of happiness in this abandon soul.

    Misplaced beginnings found nothing 

     but the ending at each turn

     where love shriveled and died.

     My heart lays opened,

     nothing to safeguard it against

     the loneliness engraved in gone.

     All that's left is unchangeable 

     acceptance of us being no more.

When love dies, how the heart cries. It's not easy accepting that a relationship which was once happy and full of joyful memories, spirals downward and out of control. Partings are painful. I felt the emotion in this poem. Thank you for sharing Kathy. A poem with a universal theme.
