Wedding Day Jitters

Wedding Day Jitters

A Poem by KATHY SUE SILLS
"

Man and woman both have wedding day jitters!

"

She wakes from a peaceful slumber,

with butterflies in her stomach,

her nerves are on edge.

Today is her wedding day.

She sighs with anticipation for

what is ahead, but something is

distrubing her pleasant thoughts.

Could she have cold feet?

or be having doubts?

Her heart begins to flutter, as

she discovers she has the

wedding day jitters.

Suddenly the adventure ahead

frightens her to death.

The church is all decorated.

The guests are on the way.

The cake with the bride and groom

on top awaits.

Everyone is ready for the

happy event, but the bride!

She thinks of her husband to be,

wondering if he's got cold feet.

Are is the wedding day jitters

just for brides?

*************

He sits in the church ,

with sweat on his brow.

His stomach is in knots.

Today is his wedding day.

He sighs with desire for

what is ahead, but his feelings

aren't quite right.

Could he have cold feet?

or be having doubts?

His breath catches in his throat,

as he discovers he has the

wedding day jitters.

Suddenly the adventure ahead

scares him to death.

The guests are here.

The cake is ready.

Everyone is ready and

waiting for the happy

event, but the groom!

He thinks of his wife to be,

wondering if she's got cold feet

Are is the wedding day jitters

just for grooms?

She stares at herself in the

mirror all dressed  in white.

He stands at the alter all

dressed and waiting.

The wedding march starts.

The groom feels faint.

The bride can hardly walk.

As she heads toward him

he smiles with glee.

Her eyes grows misty as

she starts to weep.

The bride and groom look

into each others eyes, each

lost in the glory that's ahead.

Once was the wedding day jitters

has turned into the wedding day bliss.

. ah, beautiful ... the way you gave them both a chance to express their anxiety in your narrative is excellent ... and ah, the end ... what a ravishing end to this ravishing poem ... beautifully written ...

Getting to the church on time is half the battle.. and it, being a serious commitment one should expect that there will always be jitters, but it's the love that brought them together, that will keep them together.. and in the end, the only thing that matters.. you captured the feelings perfectly.. oh the butterflies, fluttering, all about, trying to escape all at once.. Another solid write.. Keep it up!!

aww haha :) i love this! its so cute :P

the only thing i would change is instead of making the grooms the same as the brides except changing "she" to "he" i think you should play around with it and make is nerves a little different :) but that's just my opinion, your the writer

nice write

This shows how serious the two take the day that is coming.
I liked the anxiety you mixed up.

A very good poem. I believe both people are nervous. Marriage should be a lifetime promise. I like the story and the ending. A outstanding poem.

to be honest, i am not big on marriage itself. but the way you described the wedding scene, i thought it was so sweet and i totally fell in love with this poem. so romantic, i actually got excited for the bride and groom the way you wrote it.

I love the ending to the poem. It is a great poem. I love how you gave the grooms and the bride's perspective. Wedding day jitters and be scary.
