God's Canvas

God's Canvas

A Poem by KATHY SUE SILLS
"

The creation of the world.

"

He sat at his canvas, paint brush poised,

waiting for inspiration.

He smiled as he took bright yellow paint with a hint

of orange and made the golden sun with luminous rays.

Light blue and dark blue made the sky, with white

fluffy clouds floating around, this he called day time.

His mouth spreaded into a smile as he created different

forms of birds flying gracefully high in the sky.

Some landed on the huge trees with bold trunks.

Green, red, yellow, orange and brown leaves popped

out in vibrant color, giving the brids shelter.

He sat back and reviewed his work.

He took some black paint and made the night

with splashes of yellow to make billions of stars,

and a moon to light up the darkness.

Below the sky he painted earth.

He added rocks, green patchy grass.

Flowers of various colors sprouted from

the rich soil.

Rainbow colored butterflies dashed about,

along with other bugs and insects.

He made big massive oceans.

The waves roared high, splahing  upon

the sandy beaches.

Deep below the surface he added all

sorts of fish to swim about.

Feverishly he worked until he created humans.

White, black, mexican, indian, all races he formed.

He sat back to look at his pride and joy, the world.

He was a happy father of all creators until...........

He looked below and saw the destruction,

people fighting, killing, hating, stealing.

It was more than he could bare.

love was lost amongs them.

Tears streamed down his sadden face, heart shattered.

He sat at his canvas, paint brush poised.

He looked at the world he had created, being destroyed

by the hands of his humans.

He smiled as he decided to paint the end of time.

I hope the ending won't happen. I have four children I hope have a chance at a good life. I like the description at the beginning. I could see the artwork expanding. The middle saw a tire and sad God seeing his picture go to hell. A powerful poem with a sad ending. A excellent poem.

We treasure paintings, as art from our human creators but we don't value the earth as if it was art. I don't think many view earth as you have written about it above. I can't imagine man changing, going backwards doesn't seem to be a part of our make up and technology is like the forbidden fruit that is destroying us quickly. Very good inspirational poem!

This really does make me wonder. God never wnated this to happen, all the war in the world.(I'm assuming...) I bet it does make Him angry and upset how we take His gifts, the gifts of life, nature EVERYTHING and just say, "Oh, yeah. Whatever. Real nice. You know, I think I'm going to blow something up. Yeah, something with people in it." How terrible is that? Sorry if I'm going all religious here, not trying to offend anybody. But this is true. We really should appreciate His gifts more, or he just might take them away!

this is thought provoking and i wonder if God is disappointed in us when we behave like animals in nature....humans manufacture chickens and eat eggs (chicken fetus) but abortion is a huge issue....i wonder if it really is different or are we given mercy and grace.
