Mourning Into Darkness

Mourning Into Darkness

A Poem by KATHY SUE SILLS
"

Grief takes hold of a wife after her husband passes o.n

"

She was captivated by his love.

His charm was like a necklace gracing her neck.

He was the summary of her life,

the ryhthm that kept her in tune.

Since his death blinds are drawn to the

windows of her soul,

she's  mourning into darkness.

Sorrowful tears are her wardrobe.

              Pain her crown.

              Grief her sanctuary.

              Solitude her destiny.

Anger and sadness interlock,

causing her heart to shatter.

She lays on his side of the bed

in his contour.

Passionate nights passed gone

embrace her.

Dreams onced shared left unsong torment her sleep.

A boarding pass to happiness, a road

that leads to healing she seeks.

Memories of him speak to her like

a beacon in the night, urging her to live.

Mirror of hope reflects in her heart.

Mercy drops of healing smiles down on her.

A household of strength she grasp.

Each moment of each day she breaths

life back into a lifeless body.

She becomes stronger.

Slowly the blackness rises like fog after

a rain storm.

Standing high on the mountain of freedom, she feels redeemed from grief.

The storm is over.

The sun shines.

Life goes on, she must choose to live it.

I just found out that a dear man who was like my grandfather just passed away in California.. Your words washed over me with the depth of that experience.. with those happy memories that i'll always hold.. and with prayers for his dear wife who is just now having to consider going on alone after 78 years of marriage..

A very emotional and powerful write. Trying to live again after you've lost someone you love powerfully, it is hell, but healing can happen, even if ever so slowly. Awesome poem!

In the death of a loved one..a person can say it was their time to go..In a divorce..the broken hearted party spends years tormented over what they could have done to make it work...thus blaming themselves as they cannot say God took him..Valentine

I adore how you demonstrate the agony she feels as her life continues to sink. Then you gingerly turn the tables around starting with
"A boarding pass to happiness, a road
that leads to healing she seeks."

Light after darkness, a breath of fresh air of life. Healing is a wonderful thing, finding life anew again. This is wonderful and I sure enjoyed your poem here.
