Haze

Haze

A Poem by MCS

I wished

to press

the button

again

and again

sending

the morphine

flowing

through his blood

dosing him

numbing his pain

dropping

him into sleep

or is it

perhaps

just a haze

I’m fractured

I want him to go

yet

I want to keep him

I’ll stay by his side

for as long

as

he needs me

with me

he shows

his pain

I will him to

go

I would chose

his release

but

I also respect

his choice

to hang on

until

his children

are ready

to let him

go

MCS,
Difficult to review these kinds of poems cuz it is what none of us enjoy. Your words give honor to the love of someone which must face the final breath of a loved one who must leave this world. I know that God is a God of grace and is in our pain is we seek His help, love and presence. Anyway I have had loved ones die and I understand a little of what you are writing. Condolences truly.
Kathy
