Fleeting thoughts...

Fleeting thoughts...

A Poem by MCS

I caught a
glimpse of myself
as I opened my
car door
today

a face
I don't really
know
stared back at me

it looked ancient
 sad eyes
sharp lines
around the mouth

a woman plundered of her
innocence
I suppose

you know it's been
many years
since I've talked to you

I feel like you
died

let me feel the sun again
before I have to
think of you
once more

let me hold your hand
the simplest things that
haunt me

let me pretend that
I don't really know the
truth
or better yet

let me
remember
the woman
under my skin
