The black dogs are howling
her footsteps quicken
snapping twigs,
crunching snow
winter chill, moonless night
stay away from the woods,
her mother warned.


Beware of the path not taken
left or right, her mind wonders
right to mundane realism
left to darkness and adventure
winter chill, moonless dark
stay away from the woods,
her mother warned.
she turns...
