Stand

Stand

A Poem by MCS

The cluster of pines

at the edge of the marsh

stand tall and proud

their tops

crowned in a gathering

of cones

what is seen

is nothing

compared to their

intricate root system

outspreading inching

outward gaining ground

standing in their presence

has a calming influence

with the ability

to sooth ruffled edges

looking upward

one gains perspective

that we are but a speck

in this grand landscape
