Spatium

Spatium

A Poem by MCS
"

Here’s to strong women. May we know them. May we be them. May we raise them.

"

Mom’s story

told in her exceptional style

range of emotions

Clock marked time

so many questions unanswered

time ran out

Recalling her words

in the space between wake and sleep

her obituary comes to mind

Sadness fills my core

in darkness tears are not seen

I know she wants me to move on

One goal in writing is picking words & phrases that deliver a ton of feeling, imagery, whatever . . . this is what you are very good at doing. You barely brush the paint in a little swish & a whole trail of ideas is planted in the reader's mind. V2 is a strong example of this. But the whole poem is, too! Very expressive . . . you vividly show us the matrix of somewhat strangling sensations (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

My heart sank in reading this, remembering my own mother's death. We become orphan-like when we lose them. And no matter how old we are, we are like children in letting them go. I am sad to see this didn't garnish any reviews. What a travesty to read something so palpable, just to cast it aside like it were nothing.

Such a beautiful piece, Mary. I'm certain you've made her proud!
