Ruminate

Ruminate

A Poem by MCS
"

The shattering of a heart when being broken is the loudest quiet ever. ~ Carroll Bryant

"

I wish to say my piece

knowing it would be heard

as the wrong thing

reflecting leads to exhaustion

wishing to forget

yet my heart and mind

are saturated with

love and loss

for we never stood

a chance

given where we came from

now I stand in a doorway inconsolable

still feeling wronged

still not fully understanding

how it all fell apart

soon I will be the last one standing

everything will have slipped away

as if we had, as if we had not

these unresolved issues

slice through me as time

slips away

This is one of the most beautiful statements of loss I've ever read. Your words carefully describe the actual feelings & circumstances so precisely, you immerse the reader in how it is to feel this way. People always say they need closure, but your poem screams loudly to me about how "closure" is a pipedream . . . we always search & ponder & moan becuz it's so hard to understand what went wrong & how to do it better at some other point, perhaps. Your poem leads me to my usual conclusion: for some, the pursuit of love is simply not meant to be! (me!) I love this. It's a celebration of feeling hopeless about engaging. It makes withdrawal make sense! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Margie, thank you. You are always so very kind with your words. Hugs back at you Mary
... at a loss, remembering how it all fell apart. Inconsolable, still feeling wronged...

The emotion in this is immeasurable, and evocatively felt. Much deserving of more than I can say!
