Languishing

Languishing

A Poem by MCS
"

When the body is sad, the heart languishes. ~ Albert Camus

"

The year 2020

Tumbled into 2021

Words sit stubbornly unused

Our dead are disposed of

Without proper rites

Those mourning cast aside

Sorrow our companion

Our feelings kept caged

As the clock ticks

Politicians posture and point fingers

As we languish on the sidelines

Our direction obscured

Oh my God...Posturing worse than ever, when we need them to act together the most.
Are we going to come out of this?
damn, I hope so....
This piece is truth...and our dead words are disposed of as well, when the truth is disregarded.

"Languishing" is the best way I've heard it described & I've heard nobody talking/writing about this weird stretch of endless suspension in any kind of meaningful way. It's true. It feels like we're stuck in a soggy sizzle after all the hot-frying drama & yet so little resolution. No sense this covid thing is ever going back to anything like normal . . . & for us over here after ditching the Trump, public discourse remains as rank & pointless as ever. This is a brilliant tapestry of "blah"! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie
