Dance of the Dark

Dancing across the black of the night

the dark, it came knocking on the door.

Pranced down the porch where light

dwelled, and light was no more.

Glory was his, the grail was his,

Gory was his, yet became he frail,

gasping for breath,  he quivered and trembled

near to death, he grasped the rail

where light once dwelled, and shriveled.

As he lay on the ground, life drained

through his veins, he died in the kingdom

where he once reigned.

Together they danced, the dark and light

and forever they will, through the night.

I enjoyed reading this with just the light and dark in my head as opposed to actual colors, but then it makes me wonder if the poem would be stronger WITH color imagery. I would only change the last line to: and forever they will, throughout the night. It just reads better for me. Thanks for sharing, I enjoyed! :)
