I Used To

I used to think there was nothing

I used to think there was nothing more beautiful than a lone twinkling star in the night’s sky

Nothing more sweet sounding than a small stream trickling down rocks

Nothing more sweet smelling than the smell of the meadow in the spring when the flowers preformed for the world

I used to think all of this to be true

I used to think until I met you

Because when I met you, you suddenly became the shining star in the sky the one that I looked at and admired from afar

And when I met you and I heard your voice it was a warm gentle melody that captured my heart.

It captured me so that I play it in my mind during my lonely times

For when I met you I knew you were special

More than special I knew you were the beautiful, kind, smart dream that I had so long ago

I used to think I would never have the opportunity to talk to you to gaze at you face and lose myself in my own thoughts looking into your eyes

But I used to think

Because now I do not think, I know

I know that I can look into your eyes and see beyond the glasses and beyond the façade you show others

I know that talking to you makes my day that much brighter

I know that in talking to you I can name your favorite color off the top of my head

I know that in talking to you I can name the thing you passionate about

I know that in talking to you, you like to have fun

But this I also know, I know that you love me

And I love you
