Waiting

Waiting

A Poem by CS

WAITING

It seems like forever since you went away

I waited by phone, the door…day after day

Even a letter…any old way

I was desperate for confirmation

Whether by voice or by hand

That no matter the situation

We would be together…never be damned

With each waking minute…with each passing day

The silence irked my bones

Eating at me…in each and every way

This Waiting is slowly killing me

Will you ever return?

To claim what was once yours

Please come back and claim victory

This Waiting stabs at me

My wounds burn…burn…burn
