Near Twilight

Pastel by Stan Sperlack

Near Twilight

by Jack Ivey

Royal blue a’ glow this night

Majestic hues in tempered light

Golden aura boasts its play

In this end of day display

Blackened sand now underfoot

Dark as ashen chimney soot

The distance calls o’ whence it flies

Beneath the lustrous violet skies

A sliver red does dance in place

Reflections of a lasting space

Like flames upon the charcoal sea

Near twilight sighs with you and me

Brought to distance counted dance

Forth the amber lit romance

Floating true in evened flight

As this day does near twilight

Thank you my friend
This reminds me of the song Vincent. It's nice that you get inspired by art. I wish I had more of good art around me. This is a beautiful poem.

Wow, thank you so much my friend. Such sweet words you send my way and they are truly appreciated.
Oh, this is so lovely and colorful. One of the best descriptions of twilight i've read, drawing inspiration from nature in a way that only a humble person with an artist's eye can successfully do.

"Like flames upon the charcoal sea
Near twilight sighs with you and me" -- Gorgeous choice of words.

This is absolutely beautiful. Well done. :)

:) you deserve every word!
I read this magical slice of heaven aloud to myself three or four times before I could stop to consider how to review such beauty. I imagine standing on the south rim of the Grand Canyon after an early fall snow and being asked to review the beauty before me. Impossible, for if you had ever stood there you would know all words just disappear. The very definition of speechless; that is how this incredible work of art and your masterful dance with words has left me...speechless
