Upwind

Upwind

A Poem by Janani Sree Ganesh

A morning that slugged and ho-hummed

Breakfast of scrambled eggs and coffee gobbled

As a lament of pelting rain drummed

Against the windows that trembled and rattled

Warm blankets and hot chocolate solaced

Somber stars and moon in the daylight framed

My opinion " melancholic and deplored

To its depth, seeking heat in a state broken of depression

And then came the sun, a ray of hope shone

Dreams gleamed and stars hid behind the moon’s veil

My heart welled up " at a new chance, new day, and new dreams

Wishes and wants fluttered out of the bell jar

Tired of being specimens and copies

Like a butterfly, spread wings, poised for a flight

To the sky, no limits go far, go wide, and go deep

Because the sun shines...

Just because the sun shines over brightly

Cannot make me merry

So back into the blankets and snuggled like a baby

Drifted into the sleep " the only drug.

I've written a poem after a long time! Pardon the absence of a rhyming scheme. But otherwise, what do you think? Please comment (if you wish to)! :)
Thank you.
