Unknown Child

Unknown Child

A Poem by JRB
"

This poem, was written, for a child I never knew and if the gods are willing someday I may………

"

I’m sorry that I could never see your birth
Being brought to life upon this earth

For your destination is much different from mine
And too much conflict was flowing within our time

Beautiful was your mother talented so divine
Giving you birth in a period of time

Although I’ll never know what sex that you may be
Please live your life to the fullest and let your soul be free

A man was I not much at hand
I could never be your father upon this land

Although you’ll think that we both did you wrong
In the growing years you’ll see this is where you belong

For they can offer you more than we could ever have done
Being my daughter or being my son

When they tell you the story that has to be told
Fear not the truth and never turn cold

This was the best thing we could have done
Being my daughter or being my son

And someday you’ll truly understand
The creation of your father he called himself, Jan

Wow this is so powerful, sparks many questions in one's own mind.
'Although you’ll think that we both did you wrong
In the growing years you’ll see this is where you belong.'
So sweet but sad all the same. We do what we have to do in order to protect those we love.

This poem....despite what felt like a beautiful tribute to this life...it was lost. I dare not ask why. But that's part of the intrigue here. The reader is left questioning why? Why are you mournful and apologetic? Was there a choice in this matter? If yes...was the right choice made?

This is truly beautiful poetry. I love every line. Maybe one day you will meet that child.

This is so heartfelt... Just beautiful in itself. You really make the reader feel the pain and the acceptance. If I may call this a tribute, I love it, and I most especially love the truth.

This is a little hard to review as I'm not really sure what occurence inspired this. Miscarriage, abortion, adoption, doesn't really matter. Its great this was confrontational. The repetition you had of your lines towards the end was very lyrical.
