Spotlight

Spotlight

A Poem by Maura Ansley
"

Just me rambling on about how much I love acting, trying to make you understand . . .

"
The spotlights
so bright
shinig into my soul
laying it bare
 for the audience to see
sometimes when I act,
I wonder, am I really acting
or is this person a part of me?
When I walk onstage
I am another person
it exhilarates
it terrifies
but I would never change it
this amazing gift
to change into somebody else
to see somebody elses
point of view
some people say I'm crazy
For feeling this way
for voluntarily giving my soul
away, in bits and pieces
For pouring my heart
into this.
I say they are
because they never realized
the more of your heart
and soul
and hopes
and wishes
and dreams
you give away
the more you have
the more you can give
