Unreal

Unreal

A Poem by Jessica Dallaire
"

2008, actually.

"

I speak so you can hear me

But my voice you never acknowledge.

I dance so you can watch me

But your eyes never follow my footsteps.

I breathe out so you can breath in

But you don't have the lungs to sustain you.

I'm a candle so you can see in the dark

But you turn and let shadows consume you.

I'm warmth so you don't feel cold

But you let yourself turn blue and frostbitten.

I'm life so you will never fade

But you offer yourself to Death's open arms.

I offer you strength and foundation

But you would rather be supported by air.

I offer you a love without conditions

But you would rather be alone than have me.

I offer you skies of blue and color

But you would rather a life of grey overhead.

I would have completed your dreams

But you live in the land of the dreamless.

I would have made you happy

But you know not how to feel emotions.

I would have loved you forever

But forever is too long to love the imaginary.
