She Could Never Love You Like I Do

She Could Never Love You Like I Do

A Poem by Norma J. Jessee
"

Lyrics that were written when I was a teenager. A long time ago.

"

It's been a long time since I heard from you,

Although I've written you from time to time,

I guess time changes a lot of things;

But I never thought it could erase me from your mind.

They tell me I'll forget you as time goes by,

But I know that's something I'll never do,

As long as I hang on to memories of our love;

So I'm sending them all back to you.

Chorus:

I'm sending back the  letters that you wrote to me,

Note the tear stains on every " I love you "

I hear you found another to replace me;

But she could never love you like I do.

No she could never take the place of me,

And she could never feel the way I do,

And no matter how hard she tries;

She could never love you like I do.

I wish I could recall every day of our love,

Every word we spoke, Every I love you,

And I wish I knew what I did to turn you away;

But wishes and dreams are things that never come true.

I don't know what I did or said but I'm sorry,

And I honestly hope all your dreams come true,

Although seasons come and go and all things change;

One thing will remain unchanging, My love for you.

ahhhhh a teenager with a broken heart perhaps?? you had talent even then girl - because those are beautiful lyrics - I can hear the country music playing now :-) I really love the first stanza - where she is sending all the love back so she can move forward - and how there isn't really any bitterness here - just well wishes and a reminder - someday - you will think of me. very nice!!!!! Hooray for teenage you!!!

Wow, impressive, written as a teenager, indeed, your talent is obvious, timeless
like that of sentimental idea, the way words have a magic that seem to last
through the centuries, this story struck me with the same honesty and sincerity
and quality, its heartfully invented with touching effect, beautifully done.

This is so beautiful in all that it says, it shows the gentle caring person you were back then and still are today. Those memories are killers at times, but we keep bringing them up, I wonder why?

Obviously a talent in the making if this was the outflow of a teenage pen. The message reflects a maturity of outlook unusual in teenagers, but warm, nostalgic, and forgiving. It's hard to feel magnanimous towards someone who has moved on without you, but you managed that here, indicating that when you do love, it's not something that can be easily withdrawn. Yes, it would make a fine country song.
