Why Couldn't I Be

Why Couldn't I Be

A Poem by Norma J. Jessee
"

Lyrics ( Not Personal)

"

You came strutten into town, like a big stud man,

Took control of my heart, You held it in your hand,

You gave me everything, Any woman could need;

Then you turned off your charm, and left me to bleed.

Chorus:

Now why couldn't I be strong like you ?

And walk away from love, the way you do?

And why couldn't my heart, be made of stone?

I could never feel love, but I wouldn't be alone.

And why couldn't my tears be more like rain ?

Then even when I cried I could feel no pain.

Oh why couldn't I be, Why couldn't I be

Oh why couldn't I be more like you ?

You were sizing me up with those big brown eyes,

And I was fool enough to believe in your lies,

You promised me love, but like a snake in the weed,

You slithered away, and left me to bleed.

I like this! :) The beat here is great Norma! I was singing it in my head and it flowed like silk my friend... :)

And the lyrics themselves.. felt it! Wow...

You really have a way with lyrics. That would make a great song, gritty, determined and in your face.

lyrics have a way of creating another place in time as well as a fantasy world
and allows the mind to wander to far off places as well, this has such effect
of cause, the beat, the meter, the consistancy and fealligs are balanced,
I wish I could write lyrics the way you do, I would probably never stop,
any one of your songs, I could hear them playing on the radio, being hits,
beautiful, romantic, and full of sensuous yearning, loving and holding,
I'm impressed with the awsome ability and design, excellent writing Norma.

this is my dear ,whats called modern day love ,modern day chivalry, people now boast of how they can deceive people ,take from them and giving nothing back ,they think they laugh at us ,they think they are smart, but we can not do that ,we dream of world full of real love where give and take dont mean much to us,we want it to be a dreamy world ,even if we just laugh at our selves, but we still dream on and on,they are losers and they think they won,get realistic ,thats what they say ,and i will reply look what the realist done to this world ,look what mess,no i would rather live my dreamy world even if its only dreams, very nice writing, just loved it

Norma once again you tell such a great story in these lyrics, a sad one no doubt but still great story telling... some of us just love with our heart completely and others seem to be able to not feel a thing.. I very much enjoyed these again.
