We have been in the colony for two months.  Today would have been my birthday.  I supposed it still is but I am the only one alive to remember it.  I am twenty-four years old today.  My mom used to bake me a cake every year, chocolate with coffee icing, and Christopher would take me to the bookstore and buy me five new books each year.  He would pick one for me and I would choose the other four.  That was before everything got so fucked up.  Before the war and the colony.  I wonder, will I forget, after awhile?  I wonder if I’ll be able to start traditions for our daughter?  Before, I would have said yes in a heartbeat.  Now, I don’t know anymore.

I'm not sure if I should expand on the prologue or just leave it?

"I supposed it still is" - "suppose"
"chocolate with coffee icing" - sounds wonderful...

I like this as a prologue - nice and short, but full of information (but NOT an info dump) and details that get the reader's attention.

well I tried to review this a bit earlier but the Cafe ate my response. This is short enough that you could expand it but it is solid enough that it works well as a teaser if you want to wait to see how the rest of the story progresses. Nicely done.
