sands of time

sands of time

A Poem by jhumur

he closed his eyes below a tree

where he felt free to perspire

being a little tired after the long struggle with the day

recalling the halcyon years of his life

as it was shade,he falls asleep

& travels through time as he starts to dream..

and then..

he saw a pair of Moorish eyes..

a silver glaze ruling the attire

as if the architect of lord carefully decided

that beneath the beauty of this

one may even choose to die..

and next

a man, deathly pale, lying grey on sand

with a red & a black pebble in hand

looked like an ill-fated king in search of his lost throne

killed an alchemist who lied to save a philosopher's stone

and again..

an old lady breathing the last few remains of her time

completed her never ending? tales

of territories, kings & heroes last night..

quietly she made them sleep

kissed their heads & wished a future bright..

like every grey haired human

she recalled her childhood &

her life, her youthful days

& how she spent those long years alone

after which those blossoming kids arrived..

in between..

the lad woke up & thought for a moment

what was the dream all about?what it really meant?

he was still so young & eyes he liked the best

wealth being an obvious choice, what was all the rest?

thus..

the lad's dream had three transparent mirrors..

one for age, another for wealth

yet another for never ending pleasures.. :)
