![]() Golden ArchesA Poem by JCharoThis taste creates morning zombies, crust from red eyes like dandruff on dark shoulders. Sounds of semis switching, gears grinding, as they break for closed lanes. Vehicles diesel powered, stamped in golden arches, carry contraband to Denver, Colorado. Montwood High’s parking lot plastered in trumpets and trom- bones rehearsing the star spangled off tune. It echoes off of half built walls like road construction, slowing down e v e r y t h i n g. Golden arches where teenagers take morning orders and adults push dollies with boxes and speak broken English in old green aprons and faded caps with golden arches reminding them of themselves Homeless men in veteran caps camping, in fatigue windbreakers, beneath anorexic trees, with two cups of hot water, eyeing McDonalds as salvation. © 2010 JCharoReviews
