A poem I wrote about the effect of religious perfection on my life

I broke my back for you

I took the burden on for you

You wanted perfection from me

You wanted me to be set apart

I accepted the challenge 

I would only tear myself apart

You rejected failure

I would justify my own

You judged imperfections

I worked hard to smooth the wrinkles

You set the standards high

I denied it being unattainable

My inward view was cruel

My identity now comes from what is True
