"The Land Of Too Many Opportunities"

Our futures are laid across a great plain

and if we run

 we all have  the capacity to reach our destination

whether it be fortune or fame.

Some great landmarks are close,

easy to attain

so we must make the decision to pack our bags and carry on

or choose to stay.

There is no one way stop

or sure place to call home

because if our path in life was a mountain and we reached the top

We would never see how far we've grown. 

But maybe if we climb the rocks up from the ground

We could  reach the top and then look down?

But the problem with seeing how far youve come

Is beginning to forget where your from.

See our life is laid out on an even floor

All with the same opportunities

No less no more 

What matters is the distance your willing to reach 

The tools to be great are put in the hands of each

We all have the keys for each and every door

We all make our own way no matter rich or poor.

I love this for how true and relevant it is! The whole world is open to each and every person across this earth, and I think sometimes people can forget the concept of figurative landmarks and milestones in ones life. The journey that we embark on to reach these landmarks changes people more than they might realize, and it is our paths and destinations that define as individual beings.

I loved the lines, "But the problem with seeing how far you've come/Is beginning to forget where you're from." So true. I also really liked the title - in the quest for power and wealth and influence etc. we seem to have forgotten that some of the most important things in life are things that aren't going to bring us glory. This is truly a great piece of writing :) Nice job!
