masquerade my life away

masquerade my life away

A Poem by joshua deathdealer
"

"
We both knew that we never really had much of a future together.

Yet still we held onto a dead love,  for all that we were worth.
Clinging onto innocence that blossoms between comfort and obsession.

And the moments spent underneath the stars swirling above.
Images of who we once were drove futile attempts over and over.
We fought until our hands bled and our minds hemorrhaged around the
fact that seemingly we were not meant to be what we thought we were.

I will return to my burlesque.
My masquerade with reality.
Where will you hide?

I like this very much! A very intelligent piece.
Reality may not be the perfect dwelling place for the heart;
but it is for the mind, I believe. The fact that you have fought
for the love until you bled is best rather live in a mindset
of "what if(s)".

...and the photo is an exquisite choice!!!!

I really like this poem because of how it flirts with reality and the masks we all wear.

You have a deep understanding of human nature, it is harder for folk like you to escape into fantasies, There is an unavoidable grief coming through here, and I could empathise with the comfort zone of the masquerade. I think I will hide in ...hmmm...living from the neck up and writing my book. It's the only time I really am happy. Thanks. Loved this.

Sometimes love can exist with work and effort. Sometimes it just exists. And other times, when its forced to exist, it fails. A beautiful write, one of your best. Thanks for sharing

I had ten RR waiting for me when I turned on. This I saved till last. Why? Because I knew it would be quality. Guess what? I was right. A marvelously presented theme, encased in a diamond of words. A true delight from first to last.
