masquerade my life away

masquerade my life away

A Poem by joshua deathdealer

"
We both knew that we never really had much of a future together.

Yet still we held onto a dead love,  for all that we were worth.
Clinging onto innocence that blossoms between comfort and obsession.

And the moments spent underneath the stars swirling above.
Images of who we once were drove futile attempts over and over.
We fought until our hands bled and our minds hemorrhaged around the
fact that seemingly we were not meant to be what we thought we were.

I will return to my burlesque.
My masquerade with reality.
Where will you hide?

I like this very much! A very intelligent piece.
Reality may not be the perfect dwelling place for the heart;
but it is for the mind, I believe. The fact that you have fought
for the love until you bled is best rather live in a mindset
of "what if(s)".

...and the photo is an exquisite choice!!!!

People always find a place to hide. But you already knew that.

This is wonderful. It makes me take a personal stab at myself and think about where I'm at currently with someone. You can pretend everything is perfect or how it used to be. But pretending gets old, and so does hiding.
Lovely descrpitions and wording and flow.

This describes the fear that drives many a relationship beyond its grave so well. Very thought provoking; one of your best, I think!
